New Year : New Name

We are pleased to announce that we are now stretto architects.

We are looking forward to 2019; delivering the projects we are currently working on and developing new design-led projects.

A new front door for the BRI

Our proposal to enhance the main entrance of the Bristol Royal Infirmary has been granted full planning permission.

The design combines elements of the existing Welcome Centre and Queen’s Building façade to help unify their differing architectural expression.

On the move

We are growing and moving to a larger space in one of the Arnolfini’s studios. We are pleased to be joining the Arnolfini community in their year of transition.

Exciting times ahead for the Arnolfini and exciting times ahead for Stretto Architects. Why not pay us a visit in our new home and see one of the Arnolfini’s special projects and events in their new Front Room and other ground floor spaces.

Good Beer Hare

Hare Brewery was officially opened by Tarquin McDonald chief executive of Bath Rugby. To mark the occasion a bronze hare statue, crafted by Cornish artist Hamish Mackie, was unveiled. The existing Bath Ales headquarters and distribution centre (Hare House) was converted to accommodate the new four vessel brewery.  The multi-million-pound investment project will enable Bath Ales to produce 50,000 brewers’ barrels of beer – close to 14.5m pints a year.

Sancta Success

Planning permission for the new private hospital for the Healthcare Management Trust was granted on 5th April. Design Development has been progressing during the planning period with start on site programmed for the Autumn. The new purpose-built facility will replace the existing hospital in the Ffynone area of Swansea which has been on the site since 1955 and will allow an even wider range of high-quality medical treatments and services to residents throughout the region.

Changing Pharmacy

The Bristol Royal Infirmary Pharmacy is undergoing a change – to provide new changing facilities to the Aseptic Suite. As the existing department will continue production during the construction period contamination is a risk. The tenders sent out to contractors highlighted the requirement for containment of dust generated by on site activities.

Physio Planning

As part of the redevelopment of the Sancta Maria Hospital, the Healthcare Management Trust are planning a dedicated physiotherapy unit. The proposed facility will be located on the ground floor of Langdon House close to the proposed new hospital at SA1 Waterfront. The planning application was submitted to Swansea Planning department on 16th February.
